BLOODLINES & TRAITS
Shinobi Arena Bloodlines & Traits Guide

Bloodlines/Traits
Bloodlines are abilities passed down through genetic connections, this being blood relatives. Traits, on the other hand, are special abilities unique to an individual. Often, one may be mistaken for the other.

Bloodlines are able to be transplanted or implanted into non-family members through various means. There exists no bloodline that cannot be implanted or transplanted in some manner. Any attempt to create one will be shot down.

Traits, on the other hand, are difficult to replicate, even through genetic alteration. Traits require a higher skill in medical to transplant or implant, or certain jutsu to do so. In most cases, traits are physical alterations of the body, such as gills, wings, or even extra arms. They may also be chakra based, meaning it is possible to have a trait be an advanced element, such as Hashirama with wood. Traits are allowed to be impossible to transplant, but there are still ways to gain someone else’s trait, or at least one close to it. If a trait is registered as impossible to transplant, it must have a solid reason.

Implanting

Implanting a bloodline is simple, as we have seen. Simple surgery works, as well as jutsu. Surgery takes longer, but in proper conditions the success rate is perfect. Finding someone willing and able to do the surgery, however, is difficult. The second option, Jutsu, depends on the jutsu’s ranking.

Do not worry about the math, a moderator will be able to tell you if you get the bloodline or not, by rolling a die.

Surgery
To initiate a surgery, one must have a medical ninja with them, as well as the part they wish to implant. Keep in mind, surgeries do not replicate the bloodline all across the body, they simply grant you a part of the body to use as a conduit for the bloodline. However, in exchange, you get the bloodline at the direct level of the person who had it before you. You cannot regress the bloodline, and training it takes twice as much WC or Exp that it would normally cost.

Surgery has a high success rate, but it depends on the setting as well as the surgeons letter rank.
A sterilized setting automatically boosts the chances by 25%
D rank adds 5%, C rank adds 10%, B rank adds 25%, A rank adds 35%, S rank adds 50%, and SS rank adds 75%.
After each surgery, the shinobi must rest for a single twelve hour period, during which time they will be at half stats. They may involve themselves in combat if they wish, but they are advised to avoid it.

Jutsu
Jutsu are not as likely to succeed as true surgery, and require you to train the bloodline from the ground up. In general, jutsu are more difficult to use and much more dangerous, but also quicker and do not require a resting period. In exchange for this, jutsu have a lower success rate, but generally ignore environmental changes.

D rank Jutsu have a 5% chance to succeed.
C rank Jutsu have a 20% chance to succeed.
B rank Jutsu have a 35% chance to succeed.
A rank Jutsu have a 50% chance to succeed.
S rank Jutsu have a 65% chance to succeed.
SS rank Jutsu have a 80% chance to succeed.

Special Trait Ranking.
Special Traits do share the same ranking ladder as regular techniques and jutsu, however, they are categorized and classified differently. There are Major Special Traits, which you get 3 of, and are ranked B-S; and there are Minor Special Traits, which you get 2 of, and are ranked E-C

Consider a minor special trait being something that affects only you.

Consider a major trait being something that could potentially affect others as well

An example of a basic minor trait would be increased handsign speed, which reduces the cast time of any technique by 1 post, assuming it has a charge period.

An example of a basic major trait using that same principle:
Dual hand sign casting. Which allows the user to use two different techniques at the same time simultaneously by using each hand individually.

One affects you, and one can affect others on a grander scale.

Bloodline Trait Ranking.
They are categorized and specified same way as special traits. They are just restricted to the clan they are made by.
Less of a broad range of capability on a universal scale, but where it lacks for that it makes up for in uniqueness because they are traits that only that clan has.

Basic minor trait for hoshigaki are gills. Allows breathing underwater. Simple.
Major would be sharkskin, which increases taijutsu by 1 rank of speed and damage, and allows the user to swim at their current speed, plus half of their current speed.
